Olympic Torch Relay Comes To Town

Today the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay arrived in my town, it passed by literally a stone's throw from my house so I couldn't not go and take a gander.

It was shaping up to be a glorious summer's evening but about 20 minutes before the torch was due and in typical British style the heavens opened.  The downpour lasted for ages and was doing its best to dampen our spirits but thankfully about 5 minutes before the torch bearer arrived the sun came out and we were bathed in its late evening glow just in time for this...
After all the excitement we decamped to the B's house for tea and cake, the B's kindly provided the tea and I made some cakes
Mini Olympic torches.  Made in a similar vein to the Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes but with some red, orange and yellow icing piped on to represent a flame.

If the torch is coming to a street near you I urge you to go and see it as you'll probably never see the like again and also it's a wonderful excuse for some cake!

  1. Congratulations!! That is so great! I just love your cakes! It is just so inspiring to see the work of someone who is doing what they were made to do.
