This Week's Junk Shop Jewels

A couple of weeks ago Mr Right and I were driving through a local village and spotted a banner advertising the church bric-a-brac sale on the village green so we made a note of the date and decided that if the weather was being kind we'd take a peek not being very hopeful of getting anything good, thankfully we were wrong.

Mr Right got a couple of books and I bagged the following bargains.

Firstly this tea set with pretty blue roses £2 the lot!!!!
Another set of six gorgeous teaspoons 50p
A pink and gold tea set £2!!
This funky 70s Encyclopedia of Knitting and Crochet £1
And finally these pretty cross stitched flower napkins 50p for all four!
I'm starting to think that jumble sales and car boot sales are the way forward, sadly my local charity shops are starting to look a little expensive by comparison.

  1. That is a very impressive haul. I really love the cross stitch napkins - if you ever want to get rid of them let me know!

    1. You and your cross stitch addiction, I'm very attached to my napkins although I have crafty plans afoot for them I'm afraid so they won't be staying as napkins for long! x

  2. Yay for Churchy bargains! (where DO you keep all these teasets?)

    1. Sadly these two sets have driven me past saturation point and this evening will be spent having a sort out and a rejig, it was bound to happen sooner or later :(

    1. Sorry, it was probably a bit far for you to schlep and I think I got the sum total of the bargains.

I'm rocking a crocheted number and that pose as I type. x

    1. Thanks, I've been to a few disappointing church sales so this was just a lucky one I guess.

  6. Lovely finds and I agree about charity shops being pricey. I bought a 20 piece china teaset at auction last week for £1 , and a box of 'household items' that contained, amongst other things, 6 pieces of 1970s Hornsea also for £1.

    1. Auctions elude me, only ever been to a viewing the day before one, never an actual sale, shall have to remedy this soon! Well done re your bargains.

  7. Totally gobsmacked that you got the teasets for £2! Kind of sad because they would have cost so much new and would have been someones pride and joy. Charity shops are definitely getting expensive though which is also sad because sometimes I walk away from buying something.

    1. I shall give them a loving home don't worry about that. I know what you mean about walking away sometimes, they tend to price some things as if they're new.

  8. I agree the charity shops are getting more pricey. Will have to try out some jumble sales. I'm going to something called a suitcase sale in a few weeks- vendors are only able to sell what they can fit into one suitcase!
